Jute and Jackfruit’s Festival Debut & Website Launch

Well, Jute & Jackfruit made its first public debut this weekend in Arlington! At one of the largest street fairs in the area, Arlington Town Day is a local tradition since 1976. Drawing thousands, the event featured an impressive line up of musicians (jazz, rock, vocals) to performers (graffiti artists, cheerleaders, tattoo artists, and more) as well as over 100 exhibitors.

The weather could not have been more perfect – a beautiful New England September day filled with bright sunshine, crisp air and a soft wind. Jute & Jackfruit had a GREAT time, was excited to be part of the festivities and met lots of amazing people.

Julia Rea after early morning set up before the crowds arrive.

Turns out, our Nahui Ollin candy wrapper bags were an absolute hit. Women of all walks of life, from 6 year olds to 80 year olds came by to admire the bags. I forgot how many women used to (and still do even) make braided chains out of gum wrappers. The Nahui Ollin bags remind women of this activity – and seem to be loved by all.  We sold out of  our Tutti Frutti ‘Itsy Bitsy’ bags within a few hours and were sorry we did not bring more.
