Get Ready to Vote, Feral Childe has Got You Covered in Style!

Jute & Jackfruit is extremely pleased to announce our exclusive items with Feral Childe this fall. What perfect timing, as we approach one of the most important elections in history, Feral Childe & Jute & Jackfruit want to ensure that everyone looks and feels great as we march into this important moment in history.
The photoshoot we had earlier this week was aptly shot in front of Town Hall in Arlington, MA, where the elections will take place for this town in less than 2 weeks. We captured the uniqueness and beauty of Feral Childe’s handcrafted, unparalleled designs in the hearing room, next to a few of the original Voting Boxes from the early part of this century. How cool! It made us appreciate how technologically advanced our booths have now become…and yet arguably are they more accurate? Time will tell this year, but in the meantime, let’s see what Feral Childe has to offer us at Jute and Jackfruit and find out more about this one-of-a-kind design shop.
When I met Moriah and Alice a year ago, I knew they would be a good match for Jute & Jackfuit. Dedicated to creative style, innovation and sustainability, each of Feral Child’s pieces tells a unique story. Moriah and Alice are exacting pioneers in their designs and fabrics and were open to using organic fabrics for the Jute & Jackfruit collection. Together, we chose the right color and fabric combinations for JJF and it was a lot of fun working with them in the process!
Everything about Feral Childe is sustainable. They are 100% made in USA from the fabrics to the designing to the sewing. Their fabrics are mill-ends and/or organic and sustainable fabrics such as organic cotton, soy, bamboo and organic wool. When dyed, Feral Childe hand-dyes their fabrics themselves, and when there is a print, they hand print the designs on the fabric (such as the Sullivan tee). Their buttons are also handmade by them and each one is unique.
Check out some of our favorites:
Circle Shirt Organic Cotton Chambray
The appropriately named circle shirt (available both in grey and salmon pink) is made with organic cotton chambray exclusively for Jute & Jackfruit. Feral Childe’s attention to detail on this shirt is remarkable –from the front and back panels to the careful folds around the shoulder to create a bold yet flattering feminine look. The sparkles on the hand-cast one-of-a-kind “pancake” buttons are a final touch that makes this a timeless piece.

Sullivan Tee
Feral Childes’ organic Sullivan Tees for Jute & Jackfruit are made from 50% soy, 44% organic cotton and 6 % lycra and are perfectly soft against your skin. The long sleeve shirts are great or layering– either under a business suit, out to brunch or lounging in the house. The sleeves are covered with hand-set herringbone designs, and the collar is trimmed with sparkly pancake buttons to give this long sleeve shirt the little extra bit of style of class Feral Childe is known for. The Sullivan Tees come in both oatmeal and eggplant.
Neru Style Shirt dress
The grey shirt dress is classy, elegant and sustainable! Perfect for professional environments or formal events, it is made from 100 % organic cotton, which makes it softer than most fabrics and of premium quality. The folded three-quarter length sleeves as well as the handcrafted sparkly grey buttons makes this shirt dress one-of-a-kind and stand-out gorgeous!
Founders Alice Wu and Moriah Carlson appropriately met while working on an art installation. They were fast friends and began collaborating to create designs that were both hip and elegant. Alice Wu and Moriah Carlson put their heads together to create masterpieces that truly reinvent the meaning of fashion. They rip, tear, and adapt materials recycled from their own pieces while using new “renegade sewing techniques”. These techniques allow Feral Childe to “reinvent their everyday selves through dress” (http://www.aiaigasa.com/womens/Feral_Childe/6.html) and you can too!
Feral Childe has worked closely with Jute & Jackfruit to create clothing that is organic, sustainable, and environmentally sound. Several pieces in our collection, such as the organic cotton shirtdress, circle shirt and Sullivan Tees were made with fabrics exclusively for Jute & Jackfruit. Each piece uses all natural materials such as cotton, soy, organic wool and soy. On a final note, Feral Childe was recently featured in esteemed Nylon fashion magazine for their spunk and creativity.
