Oprah loves Cards from Africa and so do we
We at Jute & Jackfruit love cards from Africa, which is why we sell them, but it turns out that this month – Oprah loves them too. Cards from Africa made it into Oprah’s holiday issue of gifts she loves (p267) – check it out. (Note: the online version of this issue is not yet available so you will need to buy at a stand if you want to read the article).
As we mentioned in an earlier post, Cards from Africa are lovingly handcrafted by orphaned youth in Rwanda who have lost their parents to genocide or diseases such as AIDS. Cards from Africa supports these youth to make a good living (6 x’s the local average) which enables them to provide for their younger siblings, continue education and obtain access to health care. These youth helped by Cards from Africa are breaking the cycle of poverty.
You can give a gift that makes a difference in someone else’s life this year for the holidays. Starting with the greeting card, you can help to save someone’s life and get them out of poverty.
Cards from Africa are also members of Fair Trade federation and Fair Trade Organization.
