Recycled Newspaper Handbags Arrive to Jute & Jackfruit!
We very excited to announce the arrival of our new handmade, eco-chic newspaper handbag collection by Green Veranda. From the Sunshine bag (featured above) to the eco-clutch and Cube you will not be bored with these gorgeous handbags, perfect for greening your holiday in style.
Green Veranda is fully committed to sustainability and socially conscious business practices and as such well aligned Jute & Jackfruit. Each bag is marked by admirable craftsmanship with hundreds of finely woven recycled newspapers sewn together into compelling modern designs. Absolute conversation starters, the bags are one-of-a-kind, made with high quality buckles, zippers and modern features such as side pockets for keys as on The Sun (seen below).
The “Sun,” the most stunning in the collection, is made from all recycled newspapers and hand-woven in a creative circular design lined with jute and silver thread.
Green Veranda is not a superficially green company. They are devoted to conserving resources and empowering their women artisans. From their choice of materials—all recycled newspapers and jute (in the case of the Sun) to the planting of a tree for every purchase, they are environmentally-driven.
Green Veranda donates 10% of their profits to foundations devoted to poverty reduction and helping children in greatest need. They also ensures that their women artisans are paid a wage that enables them to fully support their families while caring for their children. They also ensure that they take pride in their work and feel empowered to take on greater roles in their homes and communities.
What’s not to like?
These bags make wonderful holiday gifts. By hitting the triple bottom line (stylish, eco-friendly and socially conscious), the bags are truly wonderful. For a sneak peak:
The “Cube” is also made from all recycled newspapers and which is held together with white thread to make strong lines of rolled newspaper is a truly unique shape.

Check out our growing collection online and come see for yourself at our wine and cheese on December 6th or at the Design Hive on December 13th.
