Engage Green Comes to Jute and Jackfruit
Jute and Jackfruit is happy to announce our newest business partner, whose environmental ethics and goals parallel our own: Engage Green. Engage Green is devoted to producing environmentally sustainable, green and very stylish products. Their logo, a penguin and a rooster, in their own words is described as a “Metaphor for our time: A Penguin from the glaciers and a Rooster from the land coming together toward a common project: Keep the earth safe from global warning.”
Lead designer, Lenora Mendoza, uses her natural abilities to create chic bags and home accessories, while using materials most would think are impossible to make fabric from, such as paper, plastic bottles, and cork. Engage Green is also importantly keeping the recycling market alive by creating products that use materials that otherwise would sit in landfills (in some cases for hundreds of years) by bringing them back into the marketplace.
We are thus very excited to carry these products and so far have gotten very positive responses at each of our local shows (and have even sold out of our first round of bags).

Spanish Mosaic Tote. Recycled plastic bottle collection. This bag is made a high quality recycled polyester fiber called PETE, which is derived from approximately 18 (16 oz) recycled soda and water bottles (PETE). The Spanish mosaic design is screen-printed onto the front of the bag, les. So how does PETE keep the earth green? According to EPA, recycling 1 Pound of plastic containers (PETE) saves approximately 12,000 BTUs of heat energy per yard.
