SoWa Open Market, in Boston’s ultra-trendy South End district, is the place where you’ll find the hippest fashions, designer decor, and of course, the best food, too. This coming Saturday and Sunday is one of the hallmark weekends of  the SOWA schedule, with the official “Open Studios” attraction. Dozens (if not hundreds) of Boston area and New England artists will exhibit their work with everything from jewelry, housewares, sculpture, paintings, clothing, fabric arts and much more. This is the weekend not to miss.

Jute and Jackfruit will be showcasing our latest locally-made, designer clothing at the event including dresses and coats by Rebe and Kelly Lane. All our exhibiting collections are made from eco-friendly, organic and sustainable fabrics such as organic cotton, soy, jute, silk, hemp, Tencel, organic wool, and recycled fleece. Our exibiting collections are also all made in the USA. Join us for our Boston debut of the latest fall fashions, which happen to align beautifully with the latest runway trends as reflected in the September 09 issue of Vogue and top designer collections. Key themes that emerge in this years collections include unabashed use of color, understated femininity and wearable style. Another hallmark of the Jute and Jackfruit collections is that they are very soft and comfortable without making you look frumpy or too casual. With our eco-fashion styles, it is easy to look and feel great while also being an ambassador for the environment and ethical style.

For a snapshot of our debut, catch a glimpse at our latest pieces: Rebe’s recycled fleece cropped jacket with a hood and two front pockets. Very comfortable, wearable and demure.

On the colorful end, we will be showcasing several dresses that offer a bold use of color while retaining structure and feminity. For example, the Merry Go Round Dress, featured below left is the perfect antidote to a dreary day: a strong dose of cheerful brightness contrasting with fall neutrals in a practical, fun and professional form. This dress is one-of-a-kind, limited edition and made with organic cotton in Pennsylvania by a small group of women artisans.

We will also bring our show-stopping accessories including the recycled Candy Wrapper handbags , recycled soda pull tab handbags and a few other surprises. And if you were not already aware, Boston Fashion Week starts next week (September 25th), so its definitely a perfect time to touch up your wardrobe with the latest contemporary styles — and why not impress everyone you know by not only being stylish, but porting ethically made and environmentally conscious style all at once!  You cannot go wrong with such a combination, and will not even be trumped by the most cutting edge runway looks. Jute and Jackfruit is your local resource for the most stylish eco-friendly, fashionable, wearable and beautiful women’s clothes available in Boston.
