Bringing Love and Buddha Back: Find balance with new winter Vintage by Kate pieces

Buddha is back and here to stay.

What better place to remember to “be in the moment”, stay centered, and restore balance than through a peaceful reminder around your neck. Boston-area jeweler Vintage by Kate uses Buddha and the “Love Stone” (rose quartz) in her newest pieces to inspire just this kind of balance.

The first (top right and below), brings together a Jade Buddha centerpiece with softly colored pink and white pearls and a few glass beads interspersed. Unique Properties of Jade Jade is one of the oldest mined gems in the history of humankind. As early as 6000 BC, Jade was being mined in China and in the Yin Ruins of Shang Dynasty (1600 BC to 1050 BC) in Anyang. Back then and for many years following, Jade was considered the “imperial gem”. In fact, the Chinese word for jade, yü, indicates beauty, nobility, and purity. Because of its yang (masculine, hot, active) qualities, jade is believed to prolong life. It can be taken medicinally in water or wine, and is believed to protect against heat and cold, hunger and thirst. Many believe too that rubbing a piece of jade in will bring good fortune. What’s not to like about this stone?

The next Buddha brings boldness and fire to the combination (featured top left and below). With traditional China Red as the centerpiece, the Buddha lines up against brightly colored Turquoise stone beads along with a few glass sparkles at the end, resulting in a perfect contrasting ying and yang effect. Wear this necklace on days when your mood is passionate, unpredictable and/or firey and deepen your balance through the necklace’s vibrant combination.

Finally, sticking with the pearl theme, we have one last piece to add this week that aligns a rose quartz pendant (below) against the pearls for a truly subtle and calming look.
