Deep in the tropical sea, Stewart + Brown’s Eva Smock Waist Dress print resurfaces in the Eva Smock waist skirt with a fun, sporty look. For those of you who want to take formality down a notch and slip on a cute mini with your favorite top, this is the skirt for you. Made with beautiful hemp jersey fabric, the skirt is versatile, great for travel (throw in a suitcase and don’t worry about bringing an iron), and promises to be a spring and summer staple. Wear with your fav top or tank tucked inside to show off the gorgeous smocked high waist, or cover up with your favorite lengthened Tee.
Moving on to accessorizing: Have you been looking for less formal scarves or wraps to add to style or warmth without the burden of silk or bulkier fabrics? Well, we certainly had and therefore were thrilled to see Stewart + Brown bring these lighter weight, casual wraps into Spring 2010. Easy to wear and maintain (no ironing necessary, machine washable), the organic cotton and hemp jersey scarves look fabulous with almost any top. Staying with the Deep Sea motif, the Ashton scarf (below right) also comes in the vibrant Boysenberry color (below center) and is an accessory you wont want to part with. The Black Sand organic cotton printed scarf (pictured far left) is made from 100% certified organic cotton and is slightly lighter weight and shorter. The organic cotton scarf goes perfectly with the Stewart + Brown Black Sand Long Merrow Tank (pictured top left and coming soon to our site) as well as the Stewart + Brown Long Sleeve Lenghtened Tee (also in Black Sand).

Next is one of my personal favorites, the Dijuna Half Sleeve Wrap in a charcoal black (pictured below). A brand new piece by Stewart + Brown, I have yet to find something exactly like this. It is original, feminine and oh-so practical. Made from a very soft 100% organic cotton, the wrap can be worn at least 3 different ways and is remarkably soft. Features include a cute hoodie in back, two front pockets and three ties. For a complete Stewart + Brown look, pair this wrap with the Cinch Skirt or the Cropped Cinch Pant Leggings. Given the charcoal color, you will end up wearing this often and with many of your existing wardrobe staples – in almost any season.

Since we mentioned the Stewart + Brown Cinch Skirt and Leggings (also new this week), we might also add that both are made with our new favorite green fabric: hemp jersey. In case you have never purchased something in hemp jersey, the fabric happens to be one of the greenest, most sustainable, plant based fibers (as compared to bamboo, soy or other viscose fibers). It is incredibly soft and has stretch. It is also machine washable, saving you from visits to the dry cleaner. Though hemp is not grown in the US (for reasons that don’t really make sense), it is a wildly popular crop grown in Canada as well as many other parts of the world and has more uses than space to fill here. Some refer to hemp as a wonder crop due to its many textile, industrial, culinary and medicinal uses. Not surprisingly, the Cinch Skirt and the Cropped Cinch Pant Leggings are very soft and comfortable to wear. You will end up wearing the leggings for much of Spring and into summer. Details include the the cinch gathers at one side of the skirt and on the back of the leggings.
Each unique Stewart+Brown collection reflects a fusion of experience and insight filtered through the Karen Stewart and Howard Brown’s creative vision and rendered into their unique and personal aesthetic. Stewart and Brown find inspiration in all aspects of life, but especially nature. We are thrilled to be carrying their lines. For our complete Stewart + Brown collection.
