Lighten up Your Spring with Prairie Underground

The new Spring 2010 collection by Prairie Underground just arrived to Jute and Jackfruit and we are thrilled to introduce these Seattle-made, organic cotton pieces, which also happen to be timed with the arrival of much-sought-after sunlight and warmth here on the East Coast (post our incessant rain and flooding!).

True to Prairie’s traditions, these new pieces retain their originality, comfort and stylistic edge while also being extremely wearable day in and day out. Each of them pair easily with one another, as well as with our earlier collection of cloak hoodies.

Starting (above) with the must have Ribbon Shirt and Maiden Voyage Jacket, these two pieces wear perfectly together, but also likely go well with a thousand other items in your own wardrobe. Each is a contemporary eco-staple in their own right: neutral colors, season-less, and very modern. Both put a twist on their classic “cousins”– the white button down shirt and the warmer weather blazer.

The jacket brings in unique feminine details such as pleating in front and on shoulders, threaded cord accents and two front pockets. The shirt likewise, adds feminine, edgy ribbon to its classic design as well as soft jersey sleeves to make it all the more comfortable. Both items can be easily dress up or down, are very comfortable and made from 100% organic cotton.

Next is the stand-out squash colored dress (pictured above) with jagged pleating in front. Known as the Swizzle Stick dress, the dress can be worn as is, with leggings or tights, or as a tunic top. It is a radiant mustard (or squash) color that works well with lighter whites and creams as well as darker neutrals such as blue suede (pictured) or bruise. Additional details include the ruching on the shoulders and 3/4 length sleeves. Pair this dress with the Maiden Jacket or the Cloak hoodie (as shown). Made from 100% organic cotton.

The Adrian tee is another wardrobe basic with a twist, something that you will get a lot of use out of but will be more original than any of your other white long sleeve Tees. Ruching details accentuate the front shoulders in a contrasting woven cotton fabric. Layer this underneath your favorite jacket, blazer or cardigan. Pairs nicely with the Maiden Jacket.  Made from 100% organic cotton.

Finally, the Pointelle Henle, an eco-casual comfy top in slate (a soft blue-teal color) is a beautiful addition to any Spring day. Incredibly soft, and femininely cut, this top wears nicely as is or underneath your favorite jacket, blazer or other top. Due to its length, it also looks nice over leggings. 1/2 length sleeves and 3 buttons in front on a contrasting woven fabric, make this Prairie Henle unique. The Pointelle is also made from 100% organic cotton.

Prairie’s organic cotton is comfortable, soft, and easy to maintain as it is machine washable and looks great slightly wrinkled or not – depending on your preference. Prairie’s cottons have an ideal weight to them, making them long-lasting. The pieces also travel easily.
