Newest Nahui Ollin handbags: Give the eco-edge to your Spring style

Stylish, radiant, eco and very practical, our newest Nahui Ollin candy wrapper bags are the perfect complement to your Spring wardrobe. Whether they be for that evening cocktail, your errand dash through town or your go-to work bag…..there is something for every woman-on-the-go and wardrobe need among the collection.

Nahui Ollin Kheops

Nahui Ollin

Starting with the Keops, my personal favorite, this bag will become almost like an extension of you, it fits so comfortably over the shoulder. Not too big and not to small, it will fit just about everything you will need for any day, and is made with approximately 2,000 candy wrappers, making it very sturdy and long lasting (not to mention water resistant).

The Keops is also great for work, weekend, play or school, in that it has great carrying space and adds just the right amount of style to your outfit in colors that you can easily sport day after day depending on your outfit.

The bag comes in silver (shown above), made from recycled potato chip bags. You can see the ingredients and part of the chips on the interior. Other colors (as shown top) are black (with white accents) and Barcode. Julie is wearing the Silver Keops above with the Prairie Underground Maiden Voyage jacket and the Pointelle Henle.

Black is particularly nice too, as it is good at night or day, and pairs well with whatever you are wearing…purple will add some radiance to your look without being over the top.

Each bag has stunning chrome buckles with matching patent leather straps (FYI these straps are also recycled from factories as over-runs). Being open on top, you will appreciate how easy is to carry and grab whatever you need to go, such as your wallet when you are rushing to pay the cashier at Starbucks for your morning latte:)

Next in line is our brand new Nahui Ollin Around Town Satchel collection (shown above). These bags offer the best of both worlds by giving you a zip closure and a spacious bag, while also providing a long strap to swing over the shoulder as needed. This bag came after the ER, as customers requested a longer strap to carry over shoulder– so here it is!

The newest wrapper collection: the Metallics, is featured above in this style, with the beautiful gold, copper, silver and black wrappers. We carry the new Metallics in the Camera size, the Itsy Bitsy, the Round Town Satchel and the Parker bag. This is a limited edition collection, so unsure how long they will be around.

As featured above, the Satchel comes in Peace and love, Metallic or Black and White, this stunning bag is has a very practical size. Made with at least 2,000 recycled candy wrappers (or in the case of Peace and Love, recycled paper), the bags are hand woven by Mayan men and women in Mexico. In case you were not aware, Mayan cultural history includes deep expertise in weaving….so when the Mayan communities were provided an opportunity to work with Nahui Ollin to weave these bags, they easily figured out how to weave many of these complex bags quite easily. I know many of you wove necklaces and strips with gum wrappers when you were a child, but lets admit that these bags are a far stretch from those strips! (much more complicated). For example the Round Town Satchel’s require at least 4 days to make, and if I were weaving it, I can assumer you it would take more than a month!

Finally, the Nahui Ollin Rosy Cheeks in Peace and Love– a must have for all the Peace-loving Boho stylistas out there. Peace and Love, is made from recycled peace and love papers and is also a limited edition collection. The Rosy is an excellent size for carrying your phone, camera or whatever else you need when a larger handbag isn’t convenient. It also will fit nicely inside your favorite larger bag, so you will definitely get a lot of use out of this style. It’s a great way to keep things organized.

With a fun assortment of colors, the peace and love handbag also makes a terrific gift for someone. Nahui Ollin artfully blends Mayan weaving techniques with modern handbag style to create stunning, eco-friendly handbags made out of recycled candy wrappers. These handbags are true works of art– you can even find them in some of America’s most prominent museum shops (at much higher prices!).

Pair any of the above purses with our Spring eco-clothing collections such as Kelly Lane, Prairie Underground, Stewart and Brown. Check out these and other collections on our main website Jute and Jackfruit.

All of those bags are hybrid versions of ladies handbags. I like the Burberry, but the size needs to be increased a half size…those cutesy buckles on the signature check bag need to be increased as well. Leather closures should not be that size as they appear dainty and a mans bag should not appear dainty.
