Spring 2010 Prairie Underground: The Orbit Top and Double Layer Hoodie

The Orbit Top is one of our favorite tops among our eco-fashion designer collections for the season and we are so excited to bring it back in the Blue Suede color. By Prairie Underground, the Orbit is flattering on so many body types. Easy to wear, you can dress the top up or down, depending on the day, and easily throw in your suitcase for your next trip. Made from organic cotton and hemp, the mid-weight jersey fabric is easy to maintain– machine washable with very little wrinkling.

In addition to the beautiful draping “orbit” around the neck, the top also has two pockets and can be worn as is on warmer days or with a long sleeve Tee (such as the Stewart + Brown) on cooler days.For those of your unfamiliar with the Orbit, it does run large, so we always suggest ordering one size down. This top looks fantastic over leggings or fitted pants.

The Cowl orbit top can be worn draped over one shoulder or centered around the neck, and looks great with a brooch or pin. Consider the Orbit during pregnancy, too! Owner Shana Yansen has been wearing this throughout her pregnancy (now in 3rd trimester) and it happens to be her favorite top. Also new this season is the Prairie Underground Double Layer Hoodie in ink pot. The double layer hoodie is a relatively new piece for Prairie, building on the principles of the Long and short cloak hoodie, the Double Layer adds flare with hints of a dress but also jacket. In beautiful ink color, like fresh eggplant, the double layer hoodie stands out with its feminine pleating around the base. Very easy to wear, comfortable, this piece can be worn as a jacket or top, over leggings or your favorite skirt. The Double Layer Hoodie is a unique wardrobe piece.

Prairie Underground is based in Seattle, Washington and is the creative design force of two women Davora Lindner and Camilla Eckersley. The Prairie Underground collection at Jute and Jackfruit is made from certified organic cotton, and some pieces also contain hemp.
